Woodpeckers

Woodpeckers is a family learning group for you and your child in which opportunities for learning together are explored. We plan to provide interesting activities and experiences which can be further developed by you at home. Woodpeckers also provides an environment where children can develop personally and socially alongside their friends.

You will find out more how a child learns and how to recognise your child's progress so that you can feel more confident in supporting him/her with talking and listening skills and the early stages of reading, writing and counting.

By attending, you can help your child become a good communicator and a confident learner in preparation for starting school.
All parents who are intending to apply for their children to attend Tavistock Infant School are invited to come with their child to Woodpeckers, a year before entry. Carers may come in place of a parent, and brothers and sisters are welcome too.

There is a charge of just £3.50 per session which includes drinks and biscuits for each family.
For those families receiving family income support the charge will be 50p per family to cover drinks and biscuits.
The group meets for one session a week in term time, starting after the half term holiday in the Autumn Term:-
Thursday afternoon 1.40 - 3.10 p.m.
Woodpeckers meets in the school hall, giving parents and children the opportunity to familiarise themselves with school facilities and staff.
Woodpeckers is run by Mrs Sloss and Mrs Eagle.
If you would like to attend the Woodpeckers sessions please contact the school office for a form.
We look forward to seeing you at Woodpeckers!
