Welcome to Tavistock Infant School

I am delighted to welcome you to Tavistock Infant School. Should you choose to send your child to our school, we look forward to getting to know you and working with you, to provide an excellent start to your child’s formal education.
In July 2009 OFSTED graded the education we offer here as outstanding, stating that “Children thrive in supportive surroundings, where the school's ethos of rights, respect and responsibility underpins its work, and they flourish academically.”
The report delivered high praise for Tavistock’s work to ensure that standards are rising constantly with pupils in the current Year 1 and Year 2 cohorts making exceptional progress from their starting points, stating that “Pupils' achievement is outstanding and they make excellent progress during their time at the school.”
A successful education depends upon an effective partnership between the school and parents and we value your involvement and support. There are a variety of opportunities for parents to be included in school activities and we rely on feedback from parents to help us to improve our school.
We are a proud, happy and caring community and try to live up to our school aim of 'Achieving Happily Together'. Within a stimulating and attractive environment we provide a curriculum that will develop the basic literacy and numeric skills whilst also providing a rich variety of exciting opportunities for learning.
